8th July 1917 - 4th Batt: The enemy attempted to raid the trench and at 1am the German artillery put down a very heavy barrage and a raiding party attacked. It was beaten off by rapid fire.

War Front:

1st Batt: Batt moved by bus to Cuhem in heavy rain.

2nd Batt: Church Parade was held in the field behind the MG`s Mess at 11am, CO inspected the billets.

3rd Batt: marched up to Ypres in the evening, taking over billets at Lille Gate and the Esplanade from the 2nd East Lancs.

1/8th Batt: Owing to very wet weather the men got a holiday. A draft of 25 other ranks arrived from base.

2/8th Batt: Divine Service held am and pm there was more cookery competitions and men could use baths.

4th Batt: The enemy attempted to raid the trench and at 1am the German artillery put down a very heavy barrage and a raiding party attacked. It was beaten off by rapid fire.
