6th April 1918 - TEACHERS’ SALARIES

War Front:

2nd Batt: More musketry and PT in am. A concert was given to the Batt by 18th Division Troupe. There was a visit by Col Clarke of 4th Batt Worcs. At 10.40 pm Batt marched off to the station and entrained for Tincques.

10th Batt: Orders issued for the relief of 57th Brigade by another Brigade of the 19th Division.

Home Front:

TEACHERS’ SALARIES – At a special meeting of the Worcestershire County Council today, the new scale of salaries adopted by the Education Committee was approved. The cost of the new scale will be £8,793, of which £4,450 will go to Head Teachers and the remainder to the assistants.

COUNTY FOOD PRODUCTION – The Labour Sub Committee reported that there were now 961 soldiers working in the county, compared with 932 in the previous week. There were 132 Women Land Army workers in the County.
