1st September 1918 - 1st Batt in the Front in Oppy Sector

War Front:

1st Batt: Batt in the Front in Oppy Sector. Two OR joined the Batt.

2nd Batt: Batt at Sus-St-Leger where men attended Divine service held by Capt.,The Rev EV Tanner MC.

3rd Batt: Batt in Brigade Reserve on the canal bank.

4th Batt: Batt with the remainder of the 88th Brigade embussed on the Hazebrouck to La Kreule road at 6 am to go to the Square, Bailleul. Owing to demolition of the road east of Meteren, it was impossible for the bus so the Brigade marched to the assembly area on the reverse slope of the Revelsberg Spur, arriving at 10am.The 10th Corps were on the western outskirts of Neuve Eglise, pushing forward towards Messines and Batt was to fill any gaps that might occur.

At 10.50am, W Coy went forward and got as far as Gough House where it was met with machine gun fire. X. Y and X Coys moved forward and took up positions in the valley. At 5.30pm a very large mine went up near De Seule crossroads. Capt. C Hackett, MC, DCM and CSM Key were wounded and 2Lt T Bruton, MM, was killed.

14th Batt: Batt at Boiry St Rictrude working on the 17th Corps roads around Henin-Sur-Soseul and St Martin-sur-Soseul.

Yeomanry/Cavalry: Regiment in a well sited camp, halfway between Jerusalem and Bethlehem.
