30th May 1918 - Worcester Post Office Staff - Unveiling the Roll of Honour

War Front:

1st Batt: At 12pm a withdrawal was made to the high ground east of Sarcy, which was held by the French. In the evening the Batt retired to Reserve and dug-in on the Sunken Road west of Bligny. Col GMC Davidge was wounded there.

At this time the casualties were 1 officer killed, 14 wounded and 15 missing. There were 50 ORs wounded and 536 missing.

2nd Batt: Batt marched at 4am to Dirty Bucket Camp.

3rd Batt: Owing to troops on the left falling back, the Batt withdrew to the line Sarcy to Ville en Tardenois in touch with the 9th Loyal Lancs on the left and the 10th Worcs on the right. Batt held this position for the rest of the day.

4th Batt: There was a football match between officers and sergeants, which sergeants won. Enemy aircraft brought down 3 of our balloons in a bombing raid.

Worcester Post Office Staff - Unveiling the Roll of Honour - The public part of the premises at the Worcester Post Office presented an unusual appearance on Monday evening, when after closing time, there was a large gathering of officials, staff and friends to witness the unveiling of a Roll of Honour bearing the names of members of the staff of the Worcester Postal District who have served or are serving in the war.
