Former Malvern Curate Charged – Headmaster’s Case for Trial – The case of the Rev. Dr William Helman Flecker D.C.L. J.P. Gloucester, described as of Dean Close School, Cheltenham (who was formerly a curate at Malvern), is accused of stealing books and other articles from the Army and Navy Stores, was mentioned by Sir Wallace in his charge at the Grand Jury at London Sessions on Tuesday. Dr Flecker was a man of hitherto irreproachable character. He gathered up the property and walked out of the place without paying. He carried a considerable sum of money, the defence being that he forgot to pay owing to inadvertence. If the Grand Jury considered on the extraordinary nature of the evidence, that Dr Flecker had no intention of theft, they would throw out the bill. A true bill was returned.

Meatless Days – Prohibition Order Coming – It is proposed shortly to make a further order prohibiting both in places of public eating and in private houses the consumption on certain days of meat, poultry and game. This announcement so long discussed as a possibility of the economic situation, was added to the statement issued on Tuesday night by the Press Bureau. The Board of Trade on Tuesday made an Order under the Defence of the Realm Regulations, regulating meals in hotels, restaurants and other places of public eating.
