21st December 1916 - British Prime Minister, David Lloyd George, rejects the German peace note and the offer of talks

Rolling casualty count: 5141

4th Batt: Batt had a lecture on cleanliness given by the MO.

2/8th Batt: All men had their clothes disinfected.

Yeomanry/Cavalry: The Reg moved up to Bittea, four miles short of El Arish. There was daily bombing by aeroplanes but no real damage was sustained. The nights were very cold.

Home Front:

Homes for Soldiers Scheme – By an appeal which we heartily commend, it will be seen that good progress is being made with this scheme, recently initiated by the Mayor of Worcester, for providing homes for men disabled in the War. Sailors as well as soldiers are to be eligible and not only men of the Worcestershire Regiment are to be provided for ,but also Worcester and Worcestershire men in other units. The Mayor’s idea original central ideas, of small houses or bungalows, erected upon a suitable and salubrious site in the County Town remain.

Marriage at Pershore – Col. Miller – Miss D.G. Guest At the Abbey Church, Pershore the marriage took place of Col. F.R. Miller, The Poplars, Bricklehampton, Recruiting Officer for South Worcestershire and Miss Dorothy Guest, the bride was given away by her father formerly postmaster of Pershore.
