1st December 1916 - Bransford bridge accident

Rolling casualty count: 5048

1st Batt: Batt resting and training at Aumont

2nd Batt: Batt did PT before breakfast. A Coy of 50 men were on a fatigue party and B and C Coys were digging trenches

3rd Batt: Batt relieved from the trenches by the 8th Loyal North Lancs Reg and moved to Brigade Reserve at Le Bizet.

4th Batt: Batt marched to Carnoy Camp, replacing the 1st Dublin Fusiliers. WDG St Clair Roberts rejoined from hospital and took over command of X Coy.

2/7th Batt: Batt at Ovillers in specialist training and working parties.

2/8th Batt: Batt in trenches from the West Meraumont Road to Sixteen Road (Desire, Hessian and Zollern trenches.)

9th Batt: Batt marching in small column plus a long train of transport from training camp at Amara along the river bank to the north west.

SMD RFA: Brigade moved via Candas and Talmas to Villers-Bocage .

Bransford Bridge Accident – Diver Seeks Boy’s Body – On Thursday the owners of the motor lorry which is now submerged in the Teme at Bransford Bridge engaged the services of a diver, and he was at work during the afternoon endeavouring to find the body of the boy George Ince, but he failed. He also tried to fix a hawser rope to the lorry in order that it could be drawn out by a traction engine, but this was not accomplished. The operations were resumed today.

Gallant Harvington Man’s Death – Mrs Ludlow of 17 Hylton Road, Worcester, has received official news of the death of her husband Cpl. Jesse Ludlow of the Worcestershire Regt. In France. Cpl. Ludlow, who was the Son of Mr Charles Ludlow of Pool House, Harvington, a short time ago was awarded the Military Medal for conspicuous gallantry at the battle of Contalmaison. He was a Reservist when the war broke out.
