The Romance of Fire: At noon on Sunday, October 22nd, a fire occurred at the warehouse and grain stores of Messrs. Clement Dalley and Co., Limited, Park Wharf, Kidderminster, containing upwards of 4,000 sacks of valuable feeding stuff and some 50 tons of linseed cotton and other cattle cakes. It was at once realised the stock was hopelessly damaged. With a view to minimise inconvenience to their wide circles of customers, even while the fire was raging, typists were set to work, and by the evening post orders were sent for a new supply of goods...In the meantime, a large gang of men had been employed in removing the salvage and preparing it for sale by auction on Thursday and Friday… Within eight days of the fire reorganisation was complete and orders were executed with the usual despatch. The company are to be congratulated that their mill, with its valuable machinery, and their large new seed warehouse escaped without the slightest injury.
