Yeomanry/Cavalry: The southern slopes up to 1-200 feet were easy slopes but to the north they dropped almost sheer. Horses could be ridden up the south slopes and after a little practice, they tobogganed down by sitting on their haunches in the soft sand. Men had to leave the horse`s head free.

Worcester Glee Club – Opening Concert of the Season - The opening Concert of the Season was held on Wednesday night when an excellent programme of instrumental music was provided by the Conductor (A. Quartermain). It opened with a delightful performance of the “Poet and Peasant” overture. Next came the choice “Chanson de Nuit” (Elgar), which was exquisitely played. THE “Mikado” selection was as popular as ever and here various instruments played solos exceedingly well.

Worcester Guardians – The Clothing of a Girl - There was a dispute between the Matron and the Cottage Homes as to whether a girl at the Cottage Homes, suffering from consumption, was last Easter taken from the Homes to the Workhouse (and thence to Newtown Hospital) with only a blanket wrapped around her, or whether she was fully dressed and then covered by a blanket. The matter arose over an application being made to the Master for the girl’s clothes. The Master denied that the girl had clothes on. She was put to bed in the Infirmary ward until moved to Newtown.
