27th October 1916 - Battle of the Somme Film - showing twice nightly

Rolling casualty count: 4738

2nd Batt: 250 men were supplied to Brigade fatigues which was carrying RE material from Trones Wood dump to a forward dump. A ration of rum was issued to these men in the evening.

4th Batt: Batt relieved by SW Borderers. W Coy was in the captured Grease trench with 4 Lewis guns, X Coy was in Sunken Road and Z Coy in Goat Trench.

1/8th Batt: CO and mounted officers reconnoitred the roads leading to Bazentin-le-petit and Le Sars.

2/7th Batt: Batt left Croix Barbe and marched to L`Éclair via Locon, Ringes and Connehem. 1 man killed and 1 wounded accidentally at Bombing School.

Earlier Closing Order – The Home Secretary gave notice that under the Defence of the Realm Regulations requiring all shops to be closed for the serving of customers at and after 8pm; on Friday; on Saturday 9pm and 7pm on other days. The carrying on of retail trade elsewhere than in a shop (e.g. in the street) is also prohibited.
