Air Raid on Dover – Worcester Boy’s Escape – When the German seaplanes visited Dover on Saturday, the 12 year old boy of Mr and Mrs Toope of Worcester, was paddling in the water, playing with a toy boat. Suddenly a bomb fell into the water about 12 yards from him. Immediately on contact with the sea, it exploded with terrific force, throwing up a large volume of water and covering him with spray. His relatives moved further along the beach, fearing that further bombs might be dropped, but by this time the hostile airman had made away. Mr Bernard Toope who resides in Somers Road, Barbourne, Worcester, is well known as the representative of a local firm in the corn trade.

Mark Hambourg at Droitwich – There was a good attendance at a concert in the Salter’s Hall on Monday night, when Mark Hambourg, the eminent Russian pianist, was the principal performer. Among the audience were a number of people from Worcester and other parts of the district. They shared an evening of pure delight.
