2nd June 1916 - New Vicar for St Helen's Church

At the Front:

3rd Batt: Batt marched to new billets at Averdoigt and there started more Co training.

4th Batt: Our aeroplanes were out early and Germans directed machine gun fire and shrapnel at them with no effect. Several more overhead bridges erected in King St and 4th Av.

Yeomanry /Cavalry: Gen Officer commanding the Eastern Force is now Sir Philip Chetwode.

On the Home Front:

Serious Worcester Accident – Two Badly Injured - A serious motor cycle accident occurred in Tolladine Road on Thursday, Mr William Henry Wilding, a brewer’s clerk, was driving a motor cycle and side car, in which was Miss Eileen Thorne, barmaid. When nearing the junction of Tolladine Road, Mr Wilding, in turning crashed into the wall. The lady was thrown out of the side car and seriously injured on the forehead.

Thrown out of Trap – On Thursday Mr Charles Bylevelt, Astwood, was driving a horse and trap in Lowesmoor, when the horse stumbled and threw him out of the trap. He was unconscious for some time. He was conveyed to the Infirmary where he was examined and found a large bruise on the back of the head.

Canon Price of Worcester – We understand that the Rev. Clement Price, Vicar of Dodderhill, Droitwich, has been offered by the Bishop of Worcester, and has accepted, the living of St Helen’s, Worcester. Canon Price was appointed Vicar of Dodderhill in 1902. He has taken an actice interest in the education work, being Chairman of the Manager of the Droitwich Schools, and he is also a Trustee of the Coventry Charity. The living of St Helen’s, which includes that of St Albans has been held by the Canon Chaytor since 1881.
