19th October 1915 - 2nd Batt. Capt Ralston was mistaken for a spy by Coldstream Guards, while on reconnaissance.

On the front:

"2nd Batt: Worked on new trench throughout the night, heavy shelling, men wounded. Work was held up for two hours when Adjutant Capt Ralston was mistaken for a spy while on reconnaissance for this trench, by the Coldstream Guards and marched under escort to Batt HQ. Men of the Special Gas Coy collected empty gas cylinders and filled in the old emplacements with sandbags. Constant heavy shelling.

Artillery Brig: working on reserve trenches at Bayencourt. It is monotonous and arduous work and they were praised for effort.
