10th September 1915 - Berkeley's Garden Party news

2nd Battalion at Bethune. 10th Batt working party of 70 men to Rue Cailloux to complete Brigade Advanced Post.

Mr and Mrs Berkeley of Spetchley gave a garden party in air of the fund for disabled soldiers and sailors. Among the large audience were the Earl and Countess of Coventry, the Countess Beauchamp and Sir Harry and Lady Vernon. It was the fourth concert that Mrs Berkeley has arranged for the war effort, there were dances on the lawns and after the concert tea was served under the trees. Parties of wounded soldiers from the Infirmary, Droitwich and from Rhydd Court were invited, some same to the concert while others fished, or played bowls or golf putting. £125 was raised for the fund.
