Austria-Hungary declares war on Russia

6th August 1914 - Austria-Hungary declares war on Russia

Mr Sam Bradburn , of Colwall, well-known in agricultural circles, rejoined his ship as a Naval Reservist.

Since the declaration of war more than 20 German merchant vessels have been captured by British and French warships or seized in British territorial waters.

Over 2000 Army Reservists joined the Depot at Norton: Many spent the night lying in the fields and on the grass bordering the roads due to lack of sleeping accommodation

Some 600 Worcestershire Reservists had a 'send off' , the Mayor's welcome hospitality included a packet of tobacco for each man.

Messrs. Nock and Joseland, Kidderminster auctioneers postponed the sale of Hundred House because the military authorities require the property for stabling and saleyard.
